Hypnotherapy for the Business Owner’s Mind
There are many tools and rituals that entrepreneurs and those in business use to stay focused and get ahead. Bet you didn’t know that Winston Churchill used to work from his bed each morning, while President Harry Truman would take a brisk walk each morning then down a shot of bourbon before his oval office workday. It should come at no surprise that hypnotherapy is the secret weapon to which many CEOs, heads of production companies, celebrities, and so on use to harness their psychological ability.
FORBES contributor Vanessa Loder left a decade-long career in finance and private equity, which she hated. During a hypnotherapy session she relived moments of a past life:
“I just started crying-it was as if something in me was unlocked. That was one of the moments I realized that I would never be happy in finance, that I needed to quit my job.”
Currently Loder is an inspirational speaker, writer, and executive coach with her own business teaching others about mindfulness and how they can reach their own potential.
This is just one example. I’m not telling you by saying all of this that you are going to have to leave your career or do anything drastic or relive moments of a past life like Loder did. I can, however, give you five ways that hypnotherapy for the business owner’s mind can help with, wherever you may be in your business’s journey.
1. Relax. Pause. Stress, be Gone.
When your business has a problem, big or small, it can trigger your body’s stress response, leading to elevated cortisol levels and other hormones that keep you in that “ahhhhhh” mode. This stress response will keep your mind in problem-focus mode as opposed to a more purposed state.
Through hypnotherapy you achieve a heightened trance-like state through guided relaxation, intense concentration, and focused attention. This state is so intense the stress can lift like a weight off your shoulders.
2. Sleep!
Sleep is a precious thing. When it comes to work, sleep can be scarce and in some extreme cases even a luxury. Long hours and awareness that success or failure is in your hands means several long days that leave you drained.
A study done by a Swiss research team found that participants who used the short hypnotherapy audios spent 80% more time in a deep sleep. To perform at your best, you need to get a deep sleep as it strengthens memory, fortifies your immune system, and restores your energy for your work day.
3. Replace Your Negative Thoughts
Did you know you have about 50,000 thoughts a day? This makes for an easy majority of them to be negative, especially if you grew up around harmful and destructive patterns in and out of the workplace.
With hypnotherapy, you can be focused on guided imagery and future pacing to help see yourself achieving goals and ease your subconscious into the idea it already happened. It re-conditions your mind to get rid of the negative self-talk about you as a business owner and reinforce the positive.
4. Improve Mental Health
A study done of entrepreneurs found that 49% evaluated dealt with some form of mental disorder, like depression or ADHD. This means that entrepreneurs have a significantly higher rate of mental disorder development than the general population.
Hypnotherapy, as we know, can be a useful tool in a treatment plan for mental health. It can help rewire the brain along with using positive reinforcement to shift away from depressive, or anxiety-ridden thoughts toward more positive outcomes.
5. Confront Fear
As a business owner, no matter how big or small your company is, you’re constantly trying new things while wearing many hats, all of which require confronting your fears; for example, public speaking, one of the most common. Hypnotherapy can help by providing positive suggestions and visualization to deal with your fear.
You can be willing to try things that others won’t so you can get results you wish to achieve. By incorporating hypnotherapy into your routine, you can not only keep your immune system strong, reduce your stress level and conquer your fears, but help your business grow as you do.
